4 Key Takeaways from Our Expert Interview: TechnologyAdvice Podcast

Juan Molina, Director of Business Development at CareCloud, was a recent guest on the TechnologyAdvice Expert Interview Series. The series, hosted by TechnologyAdvice’s Josh Bland, explores a variety of business and technology landscapes through conversations with industry leaders.

In this episode, we discuss EHRs, the cloud and interoperability.

Below are Juan Molina’s biggest insights from the conversation:

#1. There is a resurgence of people wanting to move into the cloud.

That’s one thing we’re seeing a lot of. Another big trend we’re hearing a lot about is clinical analytics, whether it is population

health analytics, business analytics, and so forth. We’re building some of our own analytics capabilities and working with folks who do that as well. But what you don’t see a lot of yet, and that our customers are asking for, deals with the financial analytics piece. We really bring the right KPIs [key performance indicators] to our customers through a dashboard and intuitive reporting. This helps them run the business or run the practice right — it’s all about the business of medicine.

#2. It’s more than just analytics, it’s about giving the right people the right tools at the right time.

Whether that’s appointment scheduling and management, patient communication, or specialty-specific clinical apps, medical groups may need a very specific application for their specialty. And even though CareCloud has its own EHR, we will seamlessly integrate with another specialty-specific EHR software solution. Or if it’s a niche product that satisfies a specific need for a practice, it should be very simple for that practice to integrate that, just like we do today on our iPhones. If we want to see restaurant ratings, we don’t have to build all these complex integrations to put Yelp on our iPhone. We just simply download it, install it, put in our username and password and we’re good to go. That’s what we need in healthcare, and that’s really the direction that CareCloud is moving.

#3. You have to grow with your customers and cater to their needs.

Our customer base represents the industry as a whole. Most of U.S. healthcare isn’t a single specialty practice, so a lot of our customer base looks varied. But we have been making a concerted effort to cater to the complex requirements that large groups need to survive.

#4. It’s a case of great timing.

We just had the good fortune of being born when we were born — launching on the cloud and starting with great tools. So we can service practices of all shapes, sizes and specialties. The cloud also allows us to help particular types of practices with complex needs and address those too.
