“Healthcare deserves a modern cloud-based open platform, with the emphasis on open.”

CareCloud and Marshfield Clinic’s IT arm revealed a new partnership on Tuesday under which they will jointly deliver administrative, clinical and financial cloud services.

The firms have merged MCIS’ clinical solutions – including a physician-designed electronic health record, patient portal and population health management tool, with CareCloud’s Concierge practice management and medical billing software and services. The integrated solution, which also includes unified customer implementation and support, has been designed specifically for the requirements of large practices across dozens of specialties.

As an entity spun out of the Marshfield Clinic, MCIS is focused on electronic health records, population health and patient engagement tools, says Peter Shave, MCIS chief architect.

“We needed to find a quality alignment with process management and revenue cycle management,” Shave said. CareCloud CEO Albert Santalo added that “the clinical systems world is more complex than the financial and administrative sides and there can be dissatisfaction among physicians with these systems,” explaining that the partnership enables CareCloud and MCIS to build technologies addressing those problems.

Both exhibitors will be conducting demonstrations at HIMSS15, along with holding two presentations during the show in conjunction with Marshfield Clinic physicians.

MCIS’ clinical solutions — with over 18,000 users representing a range of more than 80 specialties — are designed to take the complexity out of the medical practice and make it more manageable, Shave said. The cloud-based EHR is built to enable care team workflow while providing clinical decision support, optimized population health analysis and a patient portal that fosters greater engagement.

CareCloud Concierge is a comprehensive revenue cycle management solution that combines the company’s practice management software with billing and collections to help medical practices optimize their revenue cycle. CareCloud Concierge also features a collection of advanced billing rules through its CollectiveIQ offering and Advanced Analytics suite that provides visibility into a medical group’s financial and operational performance.

“Healthcare deserves a modern cloud-based open platform – with the emphasis on open,” Santalo said. “The power of an open platform is the way to deliver value for customers.”
