Cloud-based practice management, EMR and medical billing vendor CareCloud is joining forces with cloud storage specialist Box to give medical providers and the partners that serve them a way to deliver patient access to medical records and test results in an online environment compatible with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

The collaboration between Box and CareCloud was detailed this week at the Health 2.0 Fall Conference in Santa Clara, Calif. in a presentation by Box CEO Aaron Levie. Levie explained that patient access to health records and financial documents through the CareCloud Community patient portal is now being extended to include Box, which will allow health care providers to store, manage and access records from a patient’s secure Box account.
