Last Saturday was the 2nd annual MCH5K, a 5K run-walk benefiting the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation. It was a brutally hot morning in beautiful Coral Gables, a neighborhood as renowned for it’s Mediterranean Spanish-style architecture as it is for its philanthropic residents, so the milieu was just right.
Likewise, attendees were friendly, attitudes were positive and the CareCloud family came out en masse to support a noble cause.
The 5K run-walk began and ended at City Hall, its route looping around the Granada Golf Course. Despite the heat and humidity, attendees were fulfilled while having a great time!
Not to mention, I think the ice-cold water and breakfast waiting for us at the finish helped speed up race times. The scent alone pulled me along, and may even be one of the reasons as to why I’m looking forward to running for the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation again!
Hope I’ll be more prepared for the heat next year. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
